Scruggs vs. Frey

NO!!! I messed up, with the typing of my post. What it was supposed to read was : I do 2. I was agreeing with everything that you had said thats all. But for the record; for whatever the reason, I absolutely love and by FAR prefer the way a cue with the big pin like that is used in the older Fryes with wood to wood joint with no collars. As I said not sure exactly why but to me there is something so special about that particular set up to me that I just think it hits better then ANYTHING ELSE that I've ever played with regardless of the cue maker.

Ok and 3/8x10 pin with solid ivory joint from frey is the nuts!

I agree ivory joints are nice too. I've had some on higher end Scruggs' in the past and liked them but never on any type of sneaky. Honestly though I do still prefer the combination mentioned earlier by far even over the ivory joints. Its one those things - different strokes for different folks - everyone is going to have their own preference and that is the way the should go.

Bob Frey is one of the most underrated cue makers of all time, his cues are the truth.

I agree with you 1000%! I must say though while everywhere else that probably is very true, around our area most people have at least hit with a Frye if not owned one since he's right here. And I cant recall ever hearing anyone say they didn't like the hit of a Frye, as most really really like them.

Yes but they will never be worth as much

I have to disagree. I used to live in VA and guy came in selling TS sneekys for $300. Now that was 15-20 years ago. I wish I would have bought all he had but $300 was a 2 week paycheck for me.

I think a lot of people are putting up their Scruggs and keeping them as collectors, but miss the way they play. Thats why Im looking for a Frey sneaky now.

Your misreading what I said or I didn't say it correctly. , I meant it to say the newer Frys plays about the same but the older Scuggs are worth more ,, ,,

Bob Frey can make you anything you want!
He makes his SP's one way, but can make one any way you want it.
He is a true CUSTOM cue maker.
He made this cue for me, everything white is ivory, everything black is ebony.
