seeding the top 64

It seems to me that Barry is bending over backwards for the top 64 . He is seeding 1/4 of a full field . Since he didn't get 256 players this year some players received a bye in the 1st round. Guess who received the bye's , players that got seeded .Seems to me the deck is stacked in the seeded players favor. Do they need an advantage ? Without non-pro's entering the tourament what would the payout be. Just put everyones name in a hat and make it a luck of the draw. Think about it , they won't face someone else seeded in the tournament until the 3rd round. How many rounds after that until the loser is in the money ? So why would someone purchase the first or second round being streamed ? There will never be another SVB vs Dechaine first round match up again with this kind of seeding

Seeding decisions

I'm not a big fan of seeding tournaments. Which I am also not a fan of handicap tournaments. I like to keep it open - "you pays your money and you takes your chances" as the saying goes.

Well if there is seeding of players at the U.S. Open...I think past U.S. Open Champions should get top consideration. Which I think that if they did seed this year's Open, then Tommy Kennedy should have been seeded. And if I missed any other non-seeded champs - they should have been seeded too. Past champs imo should be introduced to the fans in an "Open" and respectful way.

To me it is very simple; If all players pay the same entry fee they should all be drawn at random.

But, Mr Behrman has always paid the entry fee for past winners of this prestigious event. These players are special and IMO deserve a Seed.

Other than that... if you pay the same entry fee, Random Draw.

Interesting that Efren Reyes was NOT given a bye in the first round. He beat his opponent by 11 to zip.

Barry no longer pays the entry fee for all former champions. It was getting to be too much with somewhere around 30 former champions. He does a great job introducing all the former champions that are playing in the tournament. I just think with double elimination there should be a luck of the draw. Look what mika did one year after losing his first match. He came back from the loser side to win the tournament. That's a sign of a true champion IMO. Its very unlike we will ever see that again with this new format. Everyone pays the same amount of entry so why shouldn't everyone have the same opportunity. I just feel under this format is gives the seeded player a better chance to cash out

Seeding

I don't know about how the players get seeded in pool I would guess its about there recent results in tournaments most wins second place finishes etc: if they do well thru out the year they get a high ranking and a good seeding at a prestigious event.
In tennis which is a one on one game the same hold true the players with the most tournament wins and best overall results gets a high ranking and gets a good seeding at the next tournament they enter
I don't agree you should be seeded high just because of legend status.
If Roger Federer did not play for a while or had bad results his ranking would drop fast and he would have to earn his way back to the top.
I don't know all the in and outs of tournament pool and you don't have to pay entry fees in tennis..
All that being said glad to hear Efern one his match 11-0 and hope the event is a big success for the fans and players.

seeding

Anyone consider that the field isn't full because of seeding? Amateurs that are willing to pay an entry fee deserve a level draw. Now the seeded players get a huge advantage over everyone else. Remember this as the last desperate attempt of a few top pros who selfishly carved out an advantage for themselves, but in the end hastened the end of professional pool .
I advise others to openly boycott all seeded events.

ive played in the u s open a few times and was thinking of playing in it again this year until i heard about them changing it to seeding the top 64 . with the new 64 top players getting seeded it cuts down on players like myself having a chance to cash
