Is the round dowel Asian Satinwood? Stained?

How about the block? What are the blue circles?

Did you ship out to a cue maker? (I assume). Any more details on how the final cue will be constructed?

It's starting out gorgeous . . . I'd love to see pics of the construction process and of course drool over the finished cue. LOL

That is Asian Ironwood,,, with a bit of curl

The block is stabilized banksia pod and there will be 3 of those in a segmented handle. The blue was done after stabilizing and the process is called casting

The materials were shipped to a cuemaker, yes, and I'm sure he will send pics as he goes about the build. The debate now is ivory colored linen micarta butt cap and joint or Damascus joint and micarta butt cap. Sent the ivory but I have some time to think about if I want to go Damascus, or not. Obviously the damascsus is more work with etching in ferric and so on.... but the cue is rather unique and I would like to go big or home.

I appreciate ur interest. I'm into unique materials and exotics, so this was a build I have been looking forward to. I think the brown is close enough to let me pair the ironwood and pods together. Here are some more pics.... of how we got to this point. Material for making up some rings, what the pods look like from the top once their cast, and the damascus

Wow!! Thanks for replying.

I have ZERO woodworking/carpentry/mechanical ability and it fascinates me how raw materials are turned into a gorgeous cue.

Please keep the Forum posted on progress. There's no way it won't turn out amazing.

Very nice material!

As I am also a bit into knife making, I always thought of a damascus joint. If I would ever do it, I would go stainless like Damasteel or equivalent. I am a bit afraid of the sweaty palms here to attack the carbon damascus.

If I would have the coice right now, I would go with Timascus or equivalent. Free of oxidation and much lighter.

I'm not sure if I will go with the Damascus or not yet, but yeah there's lots of options available. I do like carbon tho, for many reasons..... Fun part is deciding, and getting something different made. Might not see too many cues like this one.
