Selecting Guest Cues

Finishing up my pool room real soon now (table delivery Wed, Feb3) and wanted to collect opinions on what house cues I should have in the racks.

1. Not going to spend a lot of money, but even around the bottom $s there's a pretty good selection to choose from. Any suggestions on cheap, good house cues are welcome.

2. I guess by default, they're all 13mm Medium tip, is that normally what you get if they don't specify? :confused:

3. Was thinking about getting something like the following mix:
* 18 oz
* Two 19 oz
* 20 oz
* 18.5 & 21 oz break cues
* 18.5 oz 11.75mm S/SS cue

I wanted a variety of weights, heavy and light break cues, and wanted to offer small-tip cue in the mix.

Anyway, wide open to any comments, recommendations, or questions, Thanks!

Dufferin high run house cues are a great value and they hit really good.

I have a few CueTec and Dufferin High runs for guests. Prefer they use the CueTecs.

Meullers has inexpensive house cues. I also suggest one piece CueTec...they last forever.
I use a Valley cue for breaking. It warped slightly but not big deal especially for breaking.
If I have a hacker or beginner on my table I will first instruct them to shoot level and not into the cloth. I also tell them to use a certain cue. You are not offending anyone by protecting what you have. Your guests do not realize the equipment is expensive and needs to handled properly. One time my wife let our guests use the table before I got home. The guy was using my most expensive custom. They do not know the difference.
Your cue selection looks good. Buy a minimun to get started. Look to Meullers, Ozone or Seyberts for cues. They ship everything properly packaged and no shipping charge. See what they have that fits your budget. Save a few bucks. You only need one break cue. Go from there. Have fun. Enjoy your new set up. Having a table is timeless fun.

I learned very fast that it is not smart to let guests play on my table. This was after I just got my table and a father and son told me how great they both were at playing pool. I don't know where their opinion came from but they didn't even qualify to be classified as bangers. If seemed as if they tried to do everything they could to rip the cloth, break the balls, and put holes in the wall. I immediately stopped them and told them that they can learn somewhere else because I didn't want my table and surrounding area destroyed.

Now the only time a guest plays on my table is when I invited them to because I know that they can play and they brought their own cue.

I have some Players one-piece cues that play ok; as long as they're wood and have decent tips I don't see much room to go wrong. If the guests don't have their own cues, they're likely used to beat up house cues with slip on ferrule/tip combos. Everything is a step up from there!

Exactly. I bought the table for my own personal pleasure and selected invited guests. Relatives (wife family) come over but in an easy going tactful manner I explain the etiquette. And I do not feel strange going that. I do not go in to someones house ...turn on their TV or sound system.
