Tired of the top 7-8 Pros making all the money in Pool in tournaments, etc..

What about the thousands of players across the country that love Pool as a hobby, or to make money at, shouldn't they have some reward for their years of dedication to the sport.

We think so ... So, to help elevate things some, we are starting more advanced better paying leagues as a beginning to develop a Semi Pro level of organization to help promote Pocket Billiards as a sport.

The first league is a special 7-15 9 ball league with 16 teams of 2 players per team. It will last 14 weeks, and will pay $4,000 for 1st place, down through probably 8 places to start with. All leagues with be challenging, more so than the normal 8 or 9 ball leagues. So, instead of getting $150-250 back for 1st place, you can get back $2,000 for 1st place. Yes, it will cost a little more for these advanced leagues, but you are getting 10 times the payback.

Other advanced leagues are planned for the future. This is starting in Wichita, Ks. and we want to keep it in the Midwest to begin with (KC, Denver, Ok city, Tulsa, Joplin, Springfield, Omaha, Lincoln) areas.

If you are interested in something like this, with a league that will actually pay you something back (more than just your league fees over a session), and you are located in the Midwest with an 'in' to a Billiard room, then message me or email me, and I will refer you to the orginator for more details.

The Future...

I plan on opening a poolroom this fall...I also plan to hold a "never ending" tourney, with the winners of each week qualifying for a larger tourney in the spring and the top winners of the event will earn paid entries and expenses into Vegas or other large tournies. I plan to talk to the major event promotors and have them hold a few positions open for my players. One pocket / nine ball / and even a straight pool tourney!!!
I would also like to have a "travel league" in-house weekly event where the top two teams get air fare and accomodations when they go watch or complete in other large events.
If more rooms would have these types of events, I think we would have a good "beginning" for more National or Regional organised advanced events.
I don't think that this is much of a stretch for anyone to get it started. By the way, I have run over 400-500 tourneys since the 70's, and it really is not that hard to accomplish!!!
....it is just very difficult to do all the work by yourself... you need a dependable group to assist.

More payoffs

I have run a few tourneys in which "each and every time you win a match, you IMMEDIATELY get paid", I call them "Action Tourneys"! After you win your match, you come over to the directors table and get an envelope with $$$ in it! Each match you win, you will get a larger amount of $$$ in the next envelope. During the tourney you will accumilate the prize money.
The only problem is, there ends up with many envelopes left around the building.
Only a few players get no money...it is sort of like making the cut on the PGA...you make the cut ...by winning a match!
These are great tourneys for the beginning players and those who are working their way up the ladder.

Skins Games

Hi AJ,
We used to have "Skins" Tournys here for a while. They were ok, for a fun night out. Your right about the envelopes. I think it would have taken off more if we had bigger entry fees, and, maybe a little added from the club. But by the time you pay every winner from the first round onward, theres not much of a fist place prize fund.In my opinion, I would like to see a $50 - $100 Entry with some cash added, I think this would make for an interesting Skins tourny.

What a great idea! How many matches would a player need to win to get their entry fee back? I understand that this will depend on the size of the field, of course.

Action tourney

For example...if you have a $20 entry fee...with 32 player field...and a $200 first place...(house adds the $200)... the first round winners side pays 5/then each winners side round then pays 10/20/50/140
losers side pays about 2/5/7/11/13/25/40/140...
using both sides and almost any pattern thru the chart accumilates about 190 to 210...only 8 players get NO money and lowest pay off is ..8 players get $2...
largest tourney I ran was 231 players with a $800 first...with a $35 entry...
