Semih Sayginer plays in Kersttoernooi in the Netherlands

ZUNDERT - Nine Belgian players, six Dutch players and Semih Sayginer will participate in the Kersttoernooi in Zundert. The tournament, in the billiardhouse of former top player Louis Havermans, every year takes place with a number of Dutch and Belgian players. This time Semih Sayginer is the big name on the list of sixteen players. Former winners of the Kersttoernooi are Raymond Ceulemans, Eddy Merckx, Torbjörn Blomdahl and Frédéric Caudron. Semih Sayginer was the winner in 1998.

The sixteen players are divided in four groups of four players. Jef Philipoom (Belgium), Jean van Erp (Netherlands), Barry van Beers (Netherlands) and Francis Forton (Belgium) play in group A.

In group B: Frédéric Caudron (Belgium), Roland Forthomme (Belgium), Glenn Hofman (Netherlands), Harry van der Ven (Netherlands).

Group C: Semih Sayginer (Turkey), Eddy Leppens (Belgium), Peter de Backer (Belgium) and Jeffrey van Nijnatten (Netherlands).

Group D: Eddy Merckx (Belgium), Raimond Burgman (Netherlands), Peter Ceulemans (Belgium), Martin Spoormans (Belgium).

The days of the tournament are 27, 28, 29 and 30th December.

Semih is a great man but not a top class player anymore in 3c.He was one of the greatest but i am afraid he get bored...Only for billiard shows i think..

Actually, the issue is: not because Semih is bored. Nor he is into ONLY billiard shows now.

Basically, Semih is having some big issues with the Turkish Billiard Federation (TBF) and with people of his own. In the below Kozoom vid -long one- he explains what his problems are. It has been going on since 2004, actually. In current situation, Semih dissed the entire billiard federation. He currently plays at the French leauge for a team named Maun, I believe, along w/ Tayfun Taşdemir. In the vid, Semih complains about the president of the TBF. However, from what I hear in the turkish billiard community, there is another side of the coin. I know the situation vaguely and these are NOT my opinions. He is regarded as a "money hungry" player, that, he made the most money in the game, but he still wants "more", and that he acts like a primadonna. He is currently NOT like by a lot of the people in federation, not just the president. (Moreover, I saw him took off without notice from a tournament after he lost, this was also noticed by the tv sports anchor who was broadcasting live and he commented like "he really acts like not normal"

This game is 70% strong mind. 30% or less is talent+experience, etc.
Semih is not able to play, as he is in fact a very emotional player. He is currently disowned by his very own billiard community. His fans are not aware of all this, they simply take it as, he is just not as good as before, or he is not interested in the game anymore.

In my opinion, Semih Saygıner is like the Pele or Maradona of football/soccer. Or Muhammad Ali of boxing. (This game is everything to Semih, so he will have a comeback someday, just like Ali Thanks to him, gazillion of players took on the game.

Neither Ceulemans, nor Blomdahl or Jaspers/Caudron or Hoppe. Saygıner is the most talented player the carom game has ever had! Ceulemans said: "He changed the game". No other player became world champion in
3C AND also Trick Shot/Artistique World Champion (trick shot game is not much known in the US billiard community, I think) that I am aware of.
