The shaft collar refinish can be done, but might not be easy. If the finish was put on thick it would be hard for the repairman to match it to your butt. The original maker might have the mandrels to make that job easier for himself. If it is a really thin finish then most any super glue finish guy can do it.
I have noticed that if I do a CA finish on the shaft and it has a white collar, it comes out whiter than the joint cap on the butt.
Is there any way to match the color with out doing the same finish on the shaft??

It is best to use the same finish if you have white collars. You need to put a thin coat of the butt finish on the shaft as a base or seal coat before the super glue.
If you were sealing the butt with epoxy before finishing it, that is probably where your slight amber color is coming from. Just seal the shaft with that same epoxy before going with the super glue and that might solve the problem.
As long as the repair man mics the collar before he strips it down for refinish, a good repair man can always rematch the size needed. Only time this is hard to do is if the clear is totally chipped away, then it would be best to send the butt of the cue also for proper fitting. But yes, can be done easily.
NEVER....EVER.....EVERsay EASY when working on another maker's cue. No one knows what you will find.....except him

I said can easily be done, and I meant it. Reworking a shaft collar IS easy for a qualified repair person who has dealt with many. Wasn't meant to start a debate , but if a shaft collar causes someone major problems, you may wanna rethink working on cues. And as I stated, it is best to send butt of cue also when sending in for repair.
