Shaft Conversion

Hello All,

I had a custom break cue made using a Canadian Predator sneaky butt (green veneers) and a 5/16-14 pin. The shaft is custom (phenolic ferrule 1 piece) and the pin was also installed by the builder.

Here is my question. I wanted to try to find a Predator 5/16-14 playing shaft to have handy to play where I might not want to yank the Manzino out. Every 5/16-14 thread that I have seen has a brass collar. My cue was built with a brass pilot (shaft) that is flat faced wood to wood meaning no steel joint and 5/16 14 flush.

Could I buy a shaft 5/16-14 and have the brass machined off?

Too bad the builder didn't have the crazy 3/8 12 that Manzino uses because I already have 2 predators that would fit.


I bet the bad news is that i cant cut it off with a hacksaw!

Actually, it can be taken off what ever way you like (hack saw, file, hatchet and so forth) but once the extruded part is removed the shaft needs to be faced square again so most prudent men would just use the lathe for the removal also.
