I just recently had Mr. Leon Sly make a shaft for a Uni-Loc Mottey handle I have.
Initially, Mr. Sly stated that it would take approx. 5-6 weeks to complete as he was working on other cue orders at that time.
Mr. Sly called me on the19th and stated that the shaft was ready and made to my specs as requested. His turn around time actually was just less than 2 weeks from the time I passed the handle off to him.
We arranged to meet up at a chosen and preferred pool by both of us to make the exchange.
When he handed the shaft over, I couldn't help but gush a little like a kid with a new toy.
He had closely matched the ring and collar to the original ring and collar on the handle.
The initial test drive resulted in some missed balls but I wasn't looking to really make a ball but more to feel the cue and get some feedback.
When the test drive was over, Mr. Sly and I both settled into playing a few hours worth of 10 ball.
The more I played, the more my confidence grew in the cue and his ability to turn out a quality piece in a very short time. I don't ever recall a time when a cue felt so good and so right in my hands.
If anyone ever has an opportunity to let Mr. Sly manufacture a complete cue or manufacture a shaft for an existing cue, I'd recommend Mr. Sly in less than a heartbeat.
He's personable, knowledgeable, and a good player as well (don't leave him a bank shot or a kick, he'll make either one).
I give Mr. Sly 10 out of 10 stars.
