Picked up a new discontinued McDermott E-F3 off eBay for a good price.. they are supposed to come with a G-core shaft.. but it doesn't say g-core... are the older ones blank? It has a carbon color between the black joint sleeve and shaft... any idea?

That actually looks like someone turned down the shaft a bit and dug into the collar. It looks like there is a grove there not a different material. Outside of a ring I don't think I've ever seen a shaft with two different materials used for the collar.

If it had a gcore sticker it would have been removed during the turning down of the shaft.

There was a bit of sticker residue where it would have been... its pretty stiff compared to the 314

A McDermot EF-3 does not come with a G-Core shaft.

And the price you paid was just average for a McDermott with no points or decals.

Your shaft is just a regular wood shaft.

OK... guess it didn't come with a g-core.. getting the 314 rejointed for it anyways
