Have a nice Joss J-11 coming and looking for another shaft to save wear and tear on the original. Never shot with a LD before but looking for options. I believe a new Joss shaft is around $150 so seeing what may be out here (used is fine).

You say block letter, then you say J-11.

Which is it?

What joint ring does it have?

Do you want to match the joint ring?

You can get new Joss shafts for less than 250 if you shop around.

It is a standard joint so the options are tremendous.

I'll tell you, I keep using the old shafts on my Joss...because I have found nothing better...I have two originals, two JW, and two TS.

If you like the cue and how it plays...stick with what works and look for some old shafts.

Of course, you can try LD.

Please see pic below. I only have the older shaft on this set. Not sure if someone could build a matching shaft with Joss lettering or if there are used ones out there. If I buy an off the shelf Joss one with a black coller is the joint diameter fairly close? I had issues matching older McDermotts I have had. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Joss can match the joint collar design.

As far as the diameter, Joss standardized their joint very early. Any Joss shaft should fit very well.

In fact, most 5/16x14 piloted shafts will be very close.

Very nice! Will contact Joss on Monday

Cool.

Nobody else should be matching that joint collar graphic as it was/is their logo/design.

They have standard maple, and two versions of LD shaft.

If you find a very fine old shaft you like you can likely send it to them to match the collar.

Talk to them, see what they can do for you.

Nothing wrong with going aftermarket if you want to try it, but hard to beat matching that old collar for style...and retained value.
