Shaft Question

Tonight I traded shafts with a friend. Both are 314's but one is much stiffer than the other. Is this common, and is there any way to make them play similar?

since the whole point of a predator is to eliminate deflection, then test both. aim at a point at the other end of the table with english, and see which shaft deflects the most. i would think the stiffer one would, but if they deflect the same, then there's nothing to change.

Yeah, I got the better one but now he wants to trade back. If I could make the stiffer one have less deflection then we'd both be happy.

Also, one seems lighter than the other. I thought part of the Predator hype was consistency from shaft to shaft.

The lighter shaft with more flex is an older 314 without the cat under the numbers, where as the heaver stiffer shaft is a newer 314 with the cat under the numbers.

Maybe I should just go ahead and buy matching Balabushka's and get it over with. Anyone got a good deal???

There is nothing you can do. While all of these companies claim perfection with their products this is untrue. In fact, aside from advertisements they will never make this claim. I challenge anyone to select and test a group of shafts by any of the top makers. If you do you will find that none are exactly a like concerning hit, feel, or deflection. Another fact that the Pro's have known for some time is that all of these shafts will lose their ability through break down to decrease deflection over period of time. Most people who are in the know change their predator shafts between 8 months and 1 year. What do think the general public would think of this, especially
considering the price.

I play with predator 314 shafts and i've owned a number of them. It's my experience that the heavier predator shafts play stiffer. I had one that was 4.2ozs and it was too stiff for me and I sold it so I could buy a lighter shaft. I like a 3.8oz predator with a "S" Moori tip and this seems to work best for me.
