Shaft question

When I got my McDermott I also bought a predator 314/2 shaft for it.. after some experimenting for a few months I went back to the factory shaft and still prefer it for my style of play.

The question: is it possible to change the joint in the 314 to fit my break cue? and how much would something like that cost?

I hate having a $200 paperweight.

Start this in the Cue Makers forum....

I wouldn't break with it personally... But ask them

Yes, it is very easy to change to a different thread design. But, as has already been stated, I don't feel that the 314-2 is a very good choice for a break shaft. Not stiff enough and a ferrule that is not strong enough. Breaking is not what this shaft was designed for.

If you don't like it, sell it. You'll get alot of the money back on it. I'm sure you can get 150 for it. And 50 bucks to try out any cue isn't a bad investment.

You could trade it for another McDermott shaft... I can't imagine someone not making that trade

Yeah, it can be traded for a McDermott I-shaft.

I agree, a like-new second-hand predator shaft is not hard to get some decent money for on ebay or even the for-sale section here. That should end up being a better deal for you than paying to have it re-fitted to your break cue when it's not meant to be a break shaft.
