Shaft Sealer ???

What chemical or product should I use to seal my shaft. It has been thoroughly cleaned and very lightly sanded to bare wood. What is my next step in order to reseal the wood before applying a cue wax. I know Unique Products make a shaft sealer but I was wondering if there is some other product that I can buy at Home Depot or a wood finishing store that will produce the same results as the Unique Products sealer. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kevin

I do not know about Uniques product but you can not find anything at Home Depot that works as good as the shaft sealer I sell. It is only $10 for 8 ounces an that should last you many years. If you don't have a lathe get a lathe pin that matches your shaft and use a high speed drill to spin the shaft to clean and seal and wax if desired. All three chemicals cost $26 plus shipping.

Won't burnishing without any chemicals seal the shaft sufficiently? That's what I've done and it seems to work fine but I don't know anything except from my very limited experience. Burnishing leaves the wood very shiney slick and seemingly sealed.

Burnishing the shaft makes it harder and smoother but does little towards sealing. When applying a sealer what you are trying to accomplish is to fill the pores so that dirt and moisture can not get in. Once the sealer is applied and hardened then you actually want to remove it from the surface of the shaft as in humid conditions it can get sticky. At this point is when burnishing and waxing, if so desired, is applied.
