Hello

Can anyone educate me on the topic of shaft taper? I think i got confused.

What is the difference between pro taper and euro taper or south west taper if there is such a thing which i see some people use to describe their cues.

How does the taper on the shaft affect the hit and playability of the cue. Is a longer taper going to make the shaft whippier, stiffer?

Thank you.

Best regards
Chris

Taper means, that the shaft is getting progressivly bigger. A Pro taper refers to a shaft that starts out ,lets say 13mm at the tip. Then for the next 8-14" there is NO taper. In otherwords it stays at 13mm for that distance. The rest of the shaft then has a slight taper for a certain distance, then begins to grow in thickness, quite rapidly. in otherwords it has multiple tapers. A europion taper, is 13mm at the tip & grows progressively larger til it gets to the joint. There are lots of veriations of these, but basically that's it in a nut shell...JER
