I need a shaft turned down and was looking for your recomendations. I'm in las vegas and would like to stay local (don't want to ship out), and would like it back as soon as possible. Also, typically, how much does a service like this cost? Any help and info will be appreciated.

I got turned down in Vegas, by a hooker. I was selling pots and pans at the time, and was running a special on a three-quart casserole.
She said she wasn't into the domestic goddess thing so I went to the apartment next door to her's and sold a silver set to a retired librarian.
I don't know why, but I thought you might like to know that.

Dude, that should have stayed in Vegas.

go to the bca event at the rio and see some of the vendors. joe blackburn is genius with cues.

I will 2nd Joe Blackburn. I've had him build 3 shafts for me and couldn't be happier. He does all work on-site. Best off to go see him during singles 9 ball this Wednesday or Thursday before he gets busy.

Thanks for all the info guys. Any idea of what mr. Blackburn charges?

He'll treat you right....excellent rep.
Anything done on-site by an expert is worth a lot because of the lack of waiting time.
Joe did a tip for me just before a tournament...all I had to do was chalk it.

You can do this on your own, you know. I did. Start with course grit sandpapaer and get finer and finer, ending with 1000, 2000, 4000, and finally imperial lapping film by 3m. Hold the sandpaper in your hand and run it up and down the length of the shaft ALL THE WHILE TURNING THE SHAFT WITH THE OTHER HAND...apply pressure evenly and past the ferrule. If you don't run it past the ferrule you'll get a concave arc in the shaft nearer to the ferrule. Cover the joint with tape so it doesn't get scratched.

Always change the motion constantly so that the sanding is evenly done - if you use only one sanding motion, the shaft will be uneven from doing it the same way continually. It sounds scary but it's not. I've done 3 shafts that way with 2k cues.

Hopefully, you just go. If you've never been to the event, just go. You'll come back here and thank everyone a dozen times over.

Joe Blackburn or Steve Lomax great guys to deal with. They are overqualified for this kind of jobs...

Worst advice ever. Pay a professional like Joe

2k cues

I think LAlouie's 2K cues took a hit in the $$$ department. Pay someone with a lathe who has reduced the diameter of dozens ( or in the case of Joe - thousands.)
