I have a Gulyassy custom, and two additional SPTX Shafts. I have paired the SPTX with a number of different butts. It always plays great. It may not be for everyone, but I love the long, thin taper. I'd describe the hit as "just right", not too stiff, not too whippy. You can really feel what you're doing with the cue ball.
The Shaft Freeze coating does a great job of keeping off the chalk, and makes it easy to maintain. However, it does have a different feel than bare wood. It's not a problem for me, but, if you really like the bare wood feel, it may not be for you.
The best feature, though, is Mike. He is great to work with, and the quality of his work is outstanding.
