I don't think a poll of other people would help you decide which shaft you want to play with.
If you can play just as well with either one, I'd stick with the 30", you have an extra inch of reach.

Cues used to be 57"....then it became 58"......and of course special order cues with longer butts and shafts......now extenders......and of course, specialized cue bridges.......so why a 30" shaft?
First and foremost is if it's a custom cue, you hurt the value when you go to resell it or trade the cue. 58" pool cues are the norm and just sell faster and easier too.
Secondly, I also think, and the shaft taper really matters a lot, a 30" shaft will tend to play a little less firm (more flex) than another identical shaft made in 29".
Anyway, that's how I see it and a expert cue dealer, probably the biggest in the USA, confirmed this for me last week......longer shafts make the cue harder to sell
when it's a fancy, expensive custom cue so I am extending market manifestation to equally apply to any & all cues.
