Hi! I'm kinda uncomfortable advertising my bar/poolroom on the main forum, but oh well. I haven't been playing pool recently (damn day job!) and don't have good Crawfish stories to tell. But...
This weekend is Shooters' 2 year anniversary. Part of me thought Shooters wouldn't make it this long. But it has, and with great intent to celebrate every year for many to come. We're planning on blowing it out Saturday night. We've got a DJ + Karaoke booked Saturday night, along with excellent drink specials, door prizes, and just general fun. And let me be clear, "blowing it out" means consuming large amounts of alcohol (and not driving).
Secondly, the entire weekend is a 24/7 charity event for the "Urbina Childrens Fund". A customer's best friend died on the job in early July. He was a former Marine, and employed as an electrician when he was electrocuted while working on the campus of UNCG. He's survived by his wife and three small children.
In an effort to raise as much as possible, my customer, Rikki, is going for the Guiness Book of World Records for "Longest Pool Marathon", which is currently set at 52h 2m. He begins playing pool at 7:00am this Friday and won't stop until he beats the record. Rikki is graciously accepting donations at the bar during the entire weekend. Shooters is donating 10% of all weekend sales. He's organized a number of sponsors to donate goods, food, and prizes, including Krispy Kreme, Harris Teeter, Starbucks, and Casino Cruises. There's also going to be a raffles for several Caribbean Cruises, and 3day/2night vacations. "American Rock Project" (http://theamericanrockproject.com/) will be performing live Sunday afternoon starting at 3:00pm, free of charge (other bands are being organized even right now -- they're hard to book gratis).
So everyone is invited out to Shooters this weekend to help my staff and I celebrate and possibly help a local family during a time of hardship. If nothing else, you can play Rikki a game of pool and help him be in the Guiness Book of World Records.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see some of ya there this weekend. I'll be there Friday and Saturday nights, from around 7:00pm onward. Sorry there's no tournament scheduled this weekend, but we're all interested in just hanging out and having fun this time.
