With all the chatter about this epic match, it seems Shane Van Boening has been chomping at the bit to match up with Efren ever since he(Shane) broke in.
I know Efren has been to the US many times for various events, and Shane has been to the Philippines a number of times in the last couple of years.
So I can't help but wonder, why did this happen only just now?
I can accept the both of them not matching up in the US because the tournaments are spread out across the country and when Efren is in town he usually has to jet out somewhere far far away. But when Shane is in the Philippines all he had to do was put the word out and hang out in Manila and Efren could have found him or Vica Versa very easily.
Was one avoiding the other? Did Shane wait to catch Efren on US soil as a strategy move? With Shane being more comfortable at home?
I can't help but wonder. It's hard for me to believe that they just didn't have the time for each other all this time.
That being said, Shane deserves any and all acolades thrown his way. He doesn't seem to be afraid of anyone, congrats to him!
