Sharks-N-Shooters in Rocky Mount, NC
Sharks-N-Shooters is a beautiful room in Rocky Mount, NC and is located at 4470 Sunset Ave. The phone number is 252-937-8882.
There are a total of nine 9' tables at Sharks-N-Shooters. 6 Gandys, 2 Kim Steels and 1 Gold Crown IV, which was acquired after being used as the final table in a WPBA event that was held in Rocky Mount - the Carolina Women's Billiard Classic. The four incandescent bulbs over each table have been replaced with the new, brighter, flourescent bulbs.
There is a club called The Nineteenth Hole, which is connected to the pool room. There are bars on both sides with daily drink/beer specials and they have all ABC permits. They also offer hotdogs, pizzas, chips and candy bars.
Pool time is $3.50 per person, per hour. Wednesday is Ladies Night - ladies play pool for free. There is a weekly handicapped 9-ball tournament on Monday nights at 7:00. $10 entry. Single elimination. Free practice time beginning at 6:30.
Sharks-N-Shooters will once again host the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour the weekend of January 25-26, 2009. The owner, James Gray, has graciously welcomed the tour for at least two stops each year since it's inception.
In May of 2008, a Jacoby Tournament at Sharks-N-Shooters featured several professional pool players, including the likes of Mike Gulyassy, Grady Mathews, Wade Crane and Gail Grecar.
Other strong players included Robert Ray, Ron Park, Jeff Pruitt, Matt Reid, Delton Howard, Tommy Briscoe, Cary Dunn, Leroy Bryant, Chris Adams, Phillip Richardson and Michael Fuller, who took first place and $1000.
Despite the strong field, there were quite a few other players who tried their luck, including one lady and four juniors. The Jacoby Tour prides itself on allowing anyone to play, regardless of playing ability or any other criteria.
Despite the parade of champions who consistently show up for Jacoby tournaments, there has been a gritty bunch of amateurs who, time and time again, muster the courage it takes to play with the best. They, in my opinion, are the unsung heroes of the Jacoby Tour.
I hope you will find a way to make it down to Sharks-N-Shooters. I think you'll be glad you did.
By the way, the Jacoby Tour will be at Break Time in Wilmington, NC this weekend (January 3-4). As usual, we'll kick things off with an Early Bird Tournament on Friday night at 7:00. The Main Event will start at 1:00 on Saturday. $1000 added, guaranteed.
