I have the drill based one. Works great for tip replacements and cleaning. You MUST wrap the part that will be in the wheels with a thick layer of low tack masking tape. probably 1/16" or so to protect the shaft. It will mess them up. They include a piece of clear tubing for this, but it just slides off and is worthless. Tape and common sense and they are a decent thing.
Pillow block bearings are nice. What if I replace the roller with this bearing, insert a plastic collet on the shaft and insert the shaft and collet into this bearing? The bearing has screws that you can use to center and tighten the collet to the shaft.

I'd think you can build one with taig parts and some plywood for around 5 hundred. Course, if you aren't into building stuff that would probably not be up your alley.
On the other hand you could just buy midamerica's starter lathe, think they are a little over 500. Basically made with taig parts and ready to use. I'd take that over the sharpshooter for sure.Made this from taig parts long time ago
What am I looking at here? Is it DIY or one you can buy? I like the looks of it, it would be ideal for me.
Another one I made with taig parts and scrap 8020 years ago. I had it behind my midamerica large boreWhat am I looking at here? Is it DIY or one you can buy? I like the looks of it, it would be ideal for me.
Is that a dovetail bed on top of a alu profile? That looks like something up my alley.....Another one I made with taig parts and scrap 8020 years ago. I had it behind my midamerica large bore
