There was $535 in calcutta, $335 for 1st and $200 for 2nd. Laura and David chopped it up evenly.
I had probably the toughest board of the tournament. I even crossed paths with my good friend John DiTorro and somehow woke up with the better end of that stick. I ran into David playing for guaranteed 3rd, he was playing great. I had a good opportunity to get towards the hill but I dogged a pretty easy 7-ball - he made sure to punish me and I didn't see much of the table after that.
On the one loss side I played my friend (Bernard) who let me go ahead after I got to the hill because he wasn't feeling to well.
While this was happening Laura and David were playing for the hot-seat. I believe the score was 4-1 Uwate's way when an argument broke out -- Laura ended up walking outside to cool off - when she got back they were both playing pretty bad, and Laura ended up getting the best of the match.
About 2 hours after my previous match I went on to play Ruel who slopped his way into my head (got me really frustrated) and to win the hill-hill match. The kid shoots good, but for some reason against me he REALLY went for some flyers without even thinking.
David beats Ruel to play Laura again... They start talking about the argument, and both of them (like the kind hearted reasonable adults they are) apologized to each other and decided to split the tournament 50/50.
I'm pretty disappointed with my performance. In the last event I lost from King Of The Hill 8-6 and then 8-7. I got $400 for 2nd place, and Javier got $1,200 for 1st. I was hoping to close out this time.
There it is in a nut-shell.
Sharp Shooters is a great pool hall, and I love the staff/environment there... but I did have a couple of problems with how this tournament was ran. A lot of 'bending the rules' and the like. I'm sure the next one will be better.
