As with the other thread, i suggest those that aren't british and snooker fanatics should stay out of this one.

Actually, the players i mentioned were osullivan and hendry, but i have no doubt davis will concur, also.
Cue the ball well and you need not fear a kick. This is the ONLY thing everyone involved in the sport agrees on - apart from pixie dust, obviously.
It was happening to Ronnie pretty frequently at the recent UK Championship.

Exactly. Balls don't know cueing. It's all Vectors and Physic's. Anything else is just bogeyman stuff.

I have a hard time believing you know anything about cueing a ball, let alone snooker or how many kicks ronnie had the uk championships.
Ronnie was complaining about big bounces from the cushions, not kicks.
Again, pro snooker has very little in common with amateur american pool when it comes to kicks.

It's not yesterday Shaun Murphy started talking about nature of skids/kicks. It has even been discussed a little at AZB forums. Unfortunately now Murphy's site must be inactive, so no way to read his article so far.
here is a video featuring skids from the 2014 WC finals. Funny thing, there is no skids featured by ROS. The reason is not that Ronnie doesn't get those kicks though. Only time I see the commentators notice skid occur is when a player shows his frustration about odd cue ball action (always asking a ref to clean the ball afterwards) and/or when they watch a replay of the shot. I think O'Sullivan just isn't b!tchin about such skids too much, but goes on playing, hence they are hardly noticed by others. At the same time it is mentioned in the next video that even Ronnie complained about way too many skids during UK Championship.
I recall reading something about nature of skids in snooker, maybe it was quoted even here at AZB, and it mentioned both oil in cloth and static electricity, the former named as the real probable reason. I have some extracts saved from that, so will try to post them here as soon as I find that article in my archive.
Nappy snooker cloth is really very different from any other. Also don't you think it's weird enough skids happen so often during televized matches, provided the cloth and the balls are always new? One could hardly expect any dirt in the point of contact.
