Shaw 714 video?

I think it was all planned beforehand. They cut stream when someone get close to record. Stream was just drug seller tactics. Too bad. . People thought they could see whole run live full but never had chance. I hope i am wrong..
The stream cut out around like 400 maybe? Then the owner of the club streamed the rest of the run from his phone.

That video was available to watch yesterday but now today it’s gone. So it was only like the second half of the run, but definitely the most important bit.

I totally trust that things were on the up and up and that there is continuous footage. So some people saw basically the whole run live, except maybe whatever happened in the time between the main stream going down and deon getting his phone going.

I’m hoping for the YouTube video so I can just send people a link or tell them the title to try to rope them in but it doesn’t seem like that’s going to be the way. It’s hard for me to get even other pool players excited about a straight pool run but accessibility may help.

Sometimes when I ask someone to play straight pool they think I mean “normal 8 ball” as if I’m gangsta talkin. It’s just straight pool dawg let’s play, I’ll be solids cuz they got less balls to make 😂

It's amazing to me how cheap pool players are. FREE? Do you really think this should be FREE? It's hard enough to make a living as a pro player and here Jayson runs over 700 and should be expected to eek every penny out of his accomplishment. I would also expect Bobby to get an ROI as well. He ponied up the funds for the project and paid Jayson out of his own pocket for the accomplishment. What's wrong with him getting some jelly? The trolls need to step away. You're probably the same folks who show up for APA, don't spend a dime at the pool room then complain when it has to close down because they aren't making any money. Y'all should take up Lawn Bowling or Parcheesi. I'll even point you in the right direction...for FREE!

I definitely see your point, on the other hand are there really that many people that want to watch that entire run?? Seems to me it would kinda be like watching paint dry, at least to me. A lot of people complain about the extended 9 or 10 ball matches that go to 100 or 120, I think watching 1 person shooting by himself would be less entertaining.

WTF?? sound like Harriman.

What about upload the raw footage uploaded to Youtube so it's not being sat on long and then charge for a copy with a ball counter, commentary, post run interview, extras...

I just pointed out that whey ad whole thing as free stream. Then when something is gonna happen. Oops.
I am fine making money with thing but for me it is kinda lying if point was making money. Why not say people you can watch free but you cant see whole thing!
Not complaining anything else than ethics if that was planned.

The NFL posted the entirety of last year’s super bowl on YouTube within a few weeks.

Money nowadays is not made from being a gatekeeper. It is made from advertising and monetizing an asset with spin-offs.

I agree that people should be able to buy a DVD if they want one but that’s not where the real value is going to be.

There are people who would buy it just to have a copy. If you just throw it up on YouTube, that opportunity is lost.

Something that is broadcast on national TV then uploaded isn't really the same thing. I don't think the NFL posted it to generate the lion's share of the revenue. That was already accomplished during the live broadcast by way of inflated ad rates.

A few weeks before posting, sure. Gatekeeping it indefinitely when most people don’t even have DVD players any more is a money loser.

That said, people are being way too harsh on Lou and Bobby here. The run just happened, we’ll see how they decide to move forward in the days ahead.

At the very least, there should (and I expect will) be some kind of YouTube link to include in the press release that includes the rack leading up to the record ball.

Well, I guess if they package it very nicely, with full commentary, etc. it would be very interesting to view. I love 14.1 so to hear what Jason has to say about each rack and his thoughts throughout the week and especially his thoughts as he approached milestones.

I am one who can watch solo 14.1 with no problem in terms of not feeling bored, I just grew up with 14.1 being what pool really is as a game.

The more I think about it, I actually do hope they get all the promotion of the accomplishment correct and do it in a very timely manner. A traveling show is a really dumb idea unless you can go to about 25 cities with a hard schedule and a huge costly build- up to your road show; and that is not going to happen with Covid now cancelling stuff left and right.

So now time will tell us what is available with regards to viewing, the format, and, I guess- the price.

People demanding everything in pool should be free are the reason why pool is stuck in the weeds.
The Snooker model works. The end.
Copy that.

Nothing is really “free”. You are spending your time and attention even if you didn’t pay a dollar. People have so many options for entertainment and so much to do that to ask them to pay twice (money, time&attention) you will get far less viewers than if they didn’t have to come off any money.

I don’t know a thing about what YouTube ad revenue is but you’d get orders of magnitude more viewers there than if you could only buy a physical or digital copy.

The people willing to pay for a produced version will almost always still buy it even if the raw video is online. Cuz you get the commentary and whatever other perks.

The modern world is in a strange transitional place right now. There is almost no comparison between the world our 55-70+ yo people came up in and the current iteration of ‘civilization’.

That’s not meant as a “get with the times” kinda thing just an observation. It depends what the ultimate goal of this (or any) endeavor is. If it’s to expose as many people as possible to (insert thing here) then it should be all over YouTube, tiktok? and whatever other strange things people are using.

Mass exposure can net some ad revenue and also set off the butterfly effect to who knows what end?

It’s also cool to keep things in their niche, low key, high quality, especially in this time of insanity and the dilution of all things.

I don’t know the best way, it’s a conundrum

Why hasn't Legends of Pool posted it yet? Guessing they are going to try to sell it to make a buck, like another high run a couple years ago.

How about post it for free, and charge advertisers to plaster their logos on it? Such a shame. So greedy. They could still make some money off of it, without charging viewers. and they would get a TON of viewers. I think the "charging for the video" route will make them less money in the long run.

Look what happened to Schmidt. He sat on his footage for so long, except for the traveling live viewing shows, that now it is obsolete, and no one wants to watch it.

Someone, such as Filler, is going to come along and beat 714, and the process will repeat.

Hopefully, Legends will prove me wrong, as they posted in the morning that the run would be posted "later today." Well, that time stamp has passed by.
Why isn't it just up like every other live video? Mysteries upon mysteries.....

Call Inspector Danny and get him on this right away!

What? The millionaire lost the stream midway through? After all of the discussion about this they couldn't get the technical part right?

Exactly on the world record run........
