I had hopes of becoming a cue maker and i had a Sherline lathe made with a 47in bed. Well i still have lathe and the hopes/dreams of cuemaker are gone. This is a custom factory made bed made for the standard Sherline lathe. I have alot of factory tooling to go with it and like lathe all equipment is like new with almost no usage. $800 includes all tooling. Please pm if interested in lathe/tooling and we can talk.

Does the lathe have a feed for the carrage? I'm not familiar with the sherline lathe, and it's hard to tell from the pictures. How much for just the lathe and will you ship it?
Thanks,
Dave

No auto feed for carrage, this is a stock sherline lathe other then bed length. There website could give you more details if you need it. The lathe might be sold locally already and i will know sunday if it is. I will post if still available. And i will ship if needed.

The handwheel at the end of the bed is to move the carraige. It is not an auto-feed, but can be converted to one.

http://www.sherline.com/slideshow.htm

Download the first two links on this page on the lathe models. You will see a lot of detail of the Sherline Lathe.

I decided to go Taig, instead of Sherline, years ago. However, Sherline might actually have a larger following of users than Taig does. (I never used a Sherline personally...)

Here is picture of power feed from sherline. It retails for $90.

Thanks for info on power feed, i thought they made one.

Bump for lathe f/s

Dont miss out on this one. You could have one of the best table top lathes for cue work. Get this one with a steel dovetail bed not aluminum and the fact you can buy a mill to use with this motor/headstock unit for inlays. $800 for this rare unit with tooling is a deal.

Back to the top and all pm's answered

I just reviewed the specs on the Sherline lathe from their site , and it appears their lathes all have the same spindle bore size

Hole through spindle .405" (10 mm)

This presents a problem of putting the shaft though to chuck up and change tips etc unless you're only looking at changing out 9mm snooker tips.

It is what it is

Yes this is a stock sherline lathe, and with a little work it could be the ultimate table top lathe. My intentions was to make another headstock for use with the Hightower or another 3 jaw chuck that can handle the cuemakers needs. My machine shop said it was a very easy project.
Thanks

not a bad finishing and sanding lathe, but other than that you cant really do much in the way of cue repair.

Without changing the headstock like i mentioned you are correct. But just imagine how nice it would be with the mod's. And that you could buy the mill cheaply without the motor/headstock to have a great little shop setup.

I'm super tempted to buy this. This is the lathe to get to convert to cnc. It is already set up because it has a screw on the carriage, not a rack. Only problem is all the other machine tools I bought the last few years are just sitting collecting dust, lol.
