Hello Azer's, This Is My First Post Here And The Info I've Read Here Is Great.. With That Being Said,,,I've Got A Brunswick Camden II Table Which I Got Around Thanksgiving. It Gets Used Everday And I Noticed That 2 Of The Shims For The Slate Have Fallen Out. Will This Affect The Slates On The Table In Time??? Could I Go And Use Some Playing Cards In Place Of The Fallen Shims??? Or Am I In Trouble Here???

Thanks Everyone For Your Time And Replies...Devo

Hello Devo and welcome. You probably would get more responses in the "Talk to a Mechanic" forum as most of the table mechanics hang out there. I'm no expert but if you're talking about the shims between the frame and slate, your slate is probably now out of level and your table will have a roll. To get it truly level again you're gonna need a precision machinist level and replace the shims. This is something I would do myself but if you're not inclined to do so, contact a mechanic in your area to level your table. Good luck.

Thanks Steve For The Reply To My Question... In The Process Of Leveling The Slates, They Use Liqiud Dowel To Set Them In Place... I Hope This Will Stop The Slates From Moving. I'll Try This Question In The Mech. Form.. Thanks Again ... DEVO

Depends a bit on where the shims were placed. If beneath the table, and you know where they were, they can be tapped back in assuming they're wooden wedges or something similar. Playing cards make excellent shims; it's all I ever use. If they cannot be repositioned, and the table is not playing level, it will necessitate a table tear-down as the cloth will have to be removed and the slates properly re-levelled.

Not to insult your intelligence, but if you set the table up did you tighten the slate screws down enough against the shims ???

This is a common problem to those unaware.... you always shim it up a tad bit higher so when you crank down the screws it levels agains it weight so there is zero play and no chance for slippage of the shims....

This is just one aspect of several things that can go wrong when setting up tables...

I have done well over 500 myself in the last 20yrs. between breaking down and rolocating and set-up to major repair as well as recovering and are very reputable and highly recommended here in central Fl. and just when you think you have seen it all.... low and behold.... a prototype table challenges your dexterity and intellect !

If you have any questions feel free to call me anytime and perhaps I can be of assistance in rectifying your problem....
