shortening my break shaft

I Am CUrrently Having My shaft Cut Down 1.5 Inches And Shaving My Farrel Shaved Down A Bit... For My Break Shaft.. Just Curious.. Bad Idea Or What?
 
Why are you doing it?

It will be a good idea if it works and a bad idea of it doesn't.... But what are your thoughts behind doing it

I suggest you to call or Contact Bero Silic from South Croatia.He does that as his standard.Just tell him to change you a tip on the cue and he would do rest of job automatically.

They are (up here in wisc) contemplating making a short break cue to increase tip speed and deliver mass as they are big-o round. That's the thought I broke w/one it's weird but not any different that a break cue IMO.

Don't see how a short cue will make it go faster, you have less time to accelerate though your swing as the swing will be shorter. Short cue = smaller pendulum motion = slower speed at peak.

All the good players I see bring back their arm back further for a break shot, if you cut down the cue, your arm can't go back before the tip slides out of the bridge hand.

Make it lighter maybe, but not shorter.
 
I've been following this thread with interest since I had a good customer come to me a couple of weeks ago with pretty much the same idea. He wants a jump/break butt in a single piece. His idea is to make it shorter as well.
No amount of advice on my part will dissuade him from that design.
I brought up the lack of stroke distance, but he is kind of hard-headed.
I'll bring it up again and let's see where it goes.
