I warm up by shooting straight shots of different lengths along the rail with the OB and CB about 1/4 inch off the rail. When I've pocketed an entire rack of balls, I move on.
I start this shot-making drill by shooting OBs successively from the spot into the left corner pocket starting with the CB in front of the right side pocket and moving it back one diamond after every successful shot (a, b, c, d, etc.). When I get to the head rail, I must pocket 3 in a row.
Next, I place the OBs in line with the spot one diamond toward the head of the table and make the same succession of shots. Then I pull it back one more diamond, etc.
Then, I do the same thing from the opposite side, shooting from the spot into the right corner.
