Plus when Jayson stormed off towards the bathrooms he yanked a small child off the arcade games and drowned him in the toilet out of frustration. Maybe they should consider taking one or two Mosconi cup points away for that one.
Honestly, no. I don't care about either of these guys getting punished for their temper. The sport has long since decided to deal with Earl's temper just because his antics bring something different and we can't say others have to be punished for responding in kind. Sure, most days it's harmless, and Earl can be entertaining and most players know not to get bothered by some of his quirks and shit-talking and even appreciate it as part of his character, but there are other days he crosses that fine line where the usual strange charm of his bizarre behavior goes over to the dark side and he's clearly being an ugly atrocious sport. If that was the Earl that Jayson was dealing with on that day, I'm surprised Jayson held his temper together that long.
Earl, Jayson, and Dechaine all can have that jerky streak to them but let's be honest, pool isn't meant to have the same image as say snooker or golf. Hell, I used to play in places where I had to surreptitiously unscrew my cue all but a quarter turn as a situation got out of hand because I needed to have the butt ready to use as a club. I've been threatened with a knife. In some places, that is the reality behind the sport, so while some people want a very clean friendly image to professional play, a table tantrum here or there is not really all that bad considering this is not an elitist sport. Nor is it snooker where a bad call means you leave the tournament with £175,000 instead of £250,000.... these guys are lucky to make over the course of 2-3 years so there is going to be a temper flare when they feel cheated.
