Showing your work.

I'm always telling people to ask for pictures of the mechanic's work before you hire, reason being, even if you don't know anything about it, you can still tell if the work looks clean, or looks like a mess.

Pictures of tables fully assembled don't show anything about the skills it takes to put the table together, they're an illusion to the real work performed, and that's what you're paying for.

In these pictures I'm just showing the slate finished, because if the bed cloth looks ragged, that's a pretty good indicator the rails won't be much better. This is a Brunswick 7ft home style table I set up for a friend in Bozeman, MT just recently. I didn't bother with taking pictures of the rails or the table completely assembled, because I just wanted to show the finished slate as a starting point for asking questions of someone you're thinking about hiring, that's all.

The fact that the table is lined up and centered with the floor lines adds up to the perfect cloth job.

Agreed. (y)
Although pictures only tell a small part of the story. We can't tell how level it is, how many shims were used, how well the seams were dealt with, how straight the weave of the cloth is, how evenly the stretch is, etc.
Besides providing pics, some references might be warranted as well.

Absolutely, but if you can at least see the bed cloth, and it don't look ragged, that's a good thing.

WTF??? Did he gnaw thru the facings with his teeth?? If I was going to glue my own cushions on I think I would make a pencil line where the edge should be so I get them close to the correct height (there might be a better way, thats why Im not a table mechanic) and it would also serve as a line to follow so the cushions don't end up so wavy like these. I don't know what this alleged table mechanic did before his new career but itv appears he needs to go back to it unless he was incapable of that too. There are just some people out there that shouldn't have jobs requiring the use of hands and thinking, he appears to be one of those. Good grief!!!!

PS: I wonder if he is proud to show his work!!!!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Did you happen to notice the cushions are upside down??

And the folds aren't even consistent no matter how bad they are. Some folded at the top edge of the cushion and some with the lower.🤔🙄

If that wasn't bad enough it looks like one of the facings was left square and not trimmed to the rubber.
I bet there was some drinking involved 🍻 .
Never pay with beer until the job is done😂🤣😂🤣

Just had my Diamond Pro Am recovered...I went to my favorite room that has Pro Ams and asked them who does their tables. The owner is a guy who's judgement I trust. They came by and did a phenomenal job. No photos or testimonials, I saw their work up close on the tables I play on regularly, so...

It was pricey, but worth every penny. The table actually plays a bit better than when it was originally set up by the Diamond techs.

It may be worth mentioning your location and the people you went with in the event others might be looking for a mechanic in the area.

I was going to ask the same. As for price. Pay the man. Buy once cry once.

Fair enough! DC area, Matt Sniper Suite from Mechanicsville, MD.
I saw his work. My friend in MD bought a Diamond Professional from Matt. Matt did a really good thing for him in-between. I know someone here whose family member bought a Pro-Am (I played on it) and I believe Matt set up Markleys in Norristown Pa. He's as good as it gets... I'd use him in Florida if he travels.

I think he does, but not sure how far...I know he's set up tables in NC recently...
