Sigel vs LJJ, replay to death? good or bad?

I have a good and bad feeling about this, I'll go with good, but I have mixed feelings, since the match wasn't the best pool has to offer, if it was closer then yeah it would be well worth replaying over and over.

Hopefully they will promote the real tour and have plugs for the upcoming KOTH, but not much was mentioned during this production about the tour which was disappointing and didn't give the average viewer a real look at whats to come. Come on Kevin at least put a commercial plug for the KOTH and the new tour during the repeat.

So whats everyones thoughts on replaying this match like an infomercial at all kinds of hours?

It's good for pool if they play it over and over. Let me explain why.

You must look at the target audience here. Pool players will watch matches over and over again, and will even look for replays of an event that they missed or buy a tape of it.

The target audience or the general public won't. If they've already seen it, they'll turn it off, but the key is if they've already seen it. The audience that KT is trying to appeal to will not have all been watching last night. By playing it over and over, they'll get a chance to find additional viewers from the target audience and get more people interested. That's what replays are usually about anyways.

The pool community is so hard up for pool on TV, they'll watch events that they've seen a hundred times, but the intention is not to give them more of the same but to draw in more people.

I do agree, I was just concerned about the match as a promotional tool for the tour, I know the general public doesn't really care or know who any of the players are or what a good match up would be, I just wish it was closer, and offered a better layout of whats to come.

But as a promotional tool for the tour, I think it fails, I would like to have seen a spot on the upcoming tour, maybe even a commercial announcing the Orlando event with a ticket hot line number and show the list of players, announce the VIP tickets are sold out...evvent of the century kind of promotion, talking about the HOF's.. etc.

As far as the general public or recreational pool player they still have very little idea of what the tour is about or the money that will be won, the production was very vague about the concept of the IPT tour.

Lou Butera

In 1988 or so, they televised an exhibition match between Lou Butera and ... help me someone... a celebrity I believe. Anyway, they played 9-ball. Lou had to play one-handed. I don't think he played jack up, but he played one-handed nonetheless. Lou did not disappoint as he was able to break and run several racks. Though it wasn't "real pool," everyone at the bar I was "visiting" was amazed. I mean really amazed. This was the first time any of them ever "got it" as to how good a professional pool player really is. To them previously, what they played in a bar was good pool.

Does anyone else remember this? I doubt it, because they didn't replay it over and over. They should have. They may have brought the light to more bar players.
