Sigel vs. Varner, US Open 9-Ball semifinals, 1990

This is the first match I can recall watching that has the earlier rule about scratching on the break in 9b. BIH behind the headstring, lowest ball spots if it’s behind the headstring (I’m assuming that’s what happened). Also interesting that the ball made on the break spots as well - I wouldn’t have thought of that as the rule.
 
Well it was rack for your opponent, so unless they were agreeing to tilt for each other…
The pool stance itself makes triangle racking a skill. Players may align eyes and spot but the ingrained shooting position can take over and skew the rack. It may even appear level to the racker.
