Sighting balls.

I am looking to improve my pocketing of balls and have recently taken a lesson from Scott Lee (Thanks Scott) and am starting to improve again after a lull due to training myself to use his new methods.Anyway alot of what he taught me I already knew but did not implement very well or was unaware I was doing things improperly. He reiterated the fundamentals and the process. He broke things down into simple understandlable pieces and it is helping me improve.

I tried to take his approach to other parts of the game and I came up with this key item. Sighting the shot prior to getting into my stance. I know it is a key step especially on tough shots and was wondering what input others have on the process of sighting the shot.

I noticed watching Danny H and John S play straight pool both would sight tough shots. Both would walk across the line of the shot when trying to sight anything tough. I used to do this some myself but now include it anytime I have doubts on pocketing the ball.

I have changed how I sight my shot, I was sighting by looking at the ball and then at the pocket.

The new thing I added to my sighting was I pick where I want to make the ball enter the pocket and then I look from that point back to the object ball.

I also pay attention to the base of the ball and the wear lines where the balls enter the pocket. I also look for where the pocket liner meets the felt on corner shots.

So my big change on sighting balls is "pocket to object ball" which I find much better than "object ball to pocket"
