This is a Custom Cue by Mike Sima. I just won it on Ebay a few days ago. paid 200 bucks for it. I am putting it here in the hopes that one of you, the professional cue shooting peeps will trade or buy this cue from me. I want someone that knows cues to give me a fair price on it in cash or trade so they can have their hands on it, shoot with it, check it out, etc, and give their honest opinion on it. I am by no means an expert, but I really like Mike's work and I would like to get some professionals like the people I see posting here to give out their opinions. They can be done in PM or reply, whatever, so take a look and shoot me some offers. I have two of Mike's cues and I just bought my first titlist conversion cue so I need to recoup some cash fast. This is one of his lower end cues, but you can see some of his higher ends at www.simacues.com. Thanks.

Description of cue:

This is another Sima Cues original. This cue is red, green, black and brown. To begin with the forearm of this cue was made with a very nice piece of Birdseye maple. The points are a take off on the older version of the butterfly butts. The difference being that the butterfly butts didn't come to a point. They were rounded at the ends. These are definitely points as can be seen in the photos.

The joint is piloted stainless steel with a black linen based phenolic joint collar. The pin is 5/16-18 stainless. The wrap is Irish Linen (Black with a dark green speck).

The butt piece as well as the points are made from Dymondwood, a product of the Rutland Plywood Corp. Different colored hard woods are stained and than laminated into boards. This is a unique product. The 4 starbursts are made of an ivory colored linen based phenolic to match the butt cap.

My signiture, as with all Sima Cus, is inlaid with ebony.

The overall length of the cue is 58 inches with a balance point 2 inches ahead of the wrap. The finished weight is 20.5 oz.

The shaft is made from rock maple. It has a pro taper, an Ivorine III ferrule, a lePro tip and was finished at 13 mm.

Pics of cue are attached and by the way, I shot TWO games of 8 ball with the cue, using tan master chalk. No breaking of course!

Thanks for your time.

Felix

I think the idea of a cue made from plywood does not appeal to most who appreciate cues made from exotic hardwoods. I did look at his site though and some of the cues are of nice design, at least the ones made from natural wood.

phinmole?????????????????

The cue is not actually made of plywood it is made of resin impregnated colored laminated strips of wood. Thats why when you see a cue made of this material they are usually heavier than your average cue. They have a hard hit an play well if you like a heavy cue.

I like the plywood comment. I had to laugh!......................

This cue reminds me of the time I ate a couple boxes of "Nerds" candy and proceeded to throw up. The colorful results looked remarkably like those points.:D

Seriously though, not a fan.
Pinoccio, isn't that the definition of plywood? Klopek - better stay away from those nerds if you go to the pool room.

The colored wood is diamond wood , very hard and heavy ...Depending on how you cut the grain or laminates you can get different visual effects ... No problems using this wood in cues , as it is very stable and solid... just really different looking ...Nice effect the way the points are cut , I like it ...

Thank you so much for all the comments, both positive and negative.

I appreciate the feedback. This is definitely NOT one of his high end cues. He does make some beautiful natural hardwood cues that range up to the 2800 mark which is WAY out of my price range, so I bought what I could afford. I do have a very nice natural hardwood cue from him on my website. African blackwood points, BE forearm, Blackwood butt sleeve, with very nice holly inlays. However, I am not ready to give that one up :)

So, anyone have 150 to give this cue a shot? He sells them off his website in variations of colors for 350.00. :)
