Simonis 860 Cleaning

Well I never thought it would happen and so soon since anything I have to drink is almost 7 feet away from the pool table but accidents happen. A beer was set on a counter top but had lightly overflowed. No one noticed that and the 8-ball rack ended up sitting in a light beer spill on the counter.

Went to rack after a game, placed the rack on the table and the rack left a "wet rack outline" on the table. Regardless of trying to dab and blott it up, it stained the cloth.

Any suggestions? Would a hand steamer perhaps clean it? or....?

Thanks ahead of time

I would try some Wool light cleaner , or something that works on worsted wool to try to get that out asap ,I've that the same cloth as you and I have two rules when I have people over shooting pool , leave your drink and your cigarette at the sitting area I have over by the pool table and not to set a drink on the rails or smoke over the table .

I hope you find something that works that's really a bummer .

You may want to ask in the "Talk to a Mechanic" section.

I don't know if Quick Clean or Chalk Off would get stains out.

stains and spills

Although too late for this instance - first thing to do is to get a cloth and absorb the obvious moisture. Do Not rub - just get the excess moisture off the cloth.

When you have gotten al of the excess moisture off, take a clean no shedding cloth and warm water. The idea is now to 'spread the stain' over a larger area.

Just don't be afraid to get the cloth WET. Be careful if you are near a slate seam or covered slate screw hole.

Just get the area wet and gently move the water around. Use a circular motion but very little presure - you can burn up the coth if careless. As you move the water around, the stain will get disappated over a larger area.

This is NOT supposed to be soaking - but wet enuff that you are not burning up the cloth. When you think it is spread enough-try to absorb most of the moisture by soaking up the wetness.

Do this as much as possible and then walk away and come back in a few hours. The area you worked will be 'cleaner' than the rest of the table. Over the next few hours of play, the chalk dust etc will just blend the cloth into the rest of the area.

I assume the cloth is fairly new and clean - if not, you may have to 'clean' a lot more of the table.

Good luck,

Thanks All!

Mark I took your advise even though it had been 11 hours after the fact. I used clean filtered water and very lightly treated only the " ^ " mark on the table. I place a standup fan about 6 feet away and allowed to dry.

Results: True the area shows cleaner than the rest of the table (and yes simonis was pretty clean and fresh prior)... After it was completely dry, I lightly brushed in a one way stroke (the long way) and then used a patch of simonis and again stroked up and down long way on the spot. This has minimized it greatly and I do think after about 100-150 games it will not be noticeable. Also the feel and look of the cloth does not appear to be damaged whatsoever.

thank you for the help. :)
