Simonis 860 vs. Centenial cloth

I have the choice of Simonis 860 or Centenial cloth with Teflon. I was told by a dealer that the Centenial cloth with teflon will be more consistent due it not collectiong moisture and chalk not being able to get through the cloth to the table bed because it is so tightly woven(or something like that). I was also told that Centenial cloth with compare the the table speed of Simonis 860. Can I get some comments from people who have bought both of these cloths and how they like them. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

A pool room that I used to play out of had the Centennial cloth and we just got done using it in the BCA Open. It is made by Championship and what I have noticed is that it isn't as "slippery" as regular Championship cloth. As far as the person saying that it will not absorb chalk..that is crazy. My hands were just as dirty as on any other cloth. The Centennial cloth may last longer than Simonis. It doesn't wear as fast and doesn't really play too much different from the time it is put on to the time it is taken off. Simonis is a little different from start to finish...it wears faster and slides a little at the beginning...but that generally only lasts short period of time. I think the prices are similar. I think it is a tough decision but both are quality products. It would be a harder decision if you were talking about getting cloth for a pool room.

Good luck,
Sarah

Thanks for the great information. Very much appreciated!

The person told me it will not absorb chalk through the table cloth onto the slate. Not that the chalk still wouldn't sit on the cloth if you don't clean it. He said that it could cause little bumps if the dirt or chalk got through to the table's slate.

He did the "water demonstration". He squirted a water bottle on the table and the water beaded right up and did not go through the cloth. Pretty cool! :).

Sorry, I guess i misunderstood about the cloth absorbing chalk. The Centennial cloth really is a cool idea. I saw the demonstration with water, beer, mustard, and ketchup. Everything came off with no stain. Another thing I forgot to mention was the speed of the cloth. Championship and Simonis vary in speed. Championship is alot faster in my opinion. The Centennial is almost identical speed to Simonis 860.

Sounds like a GREAT idea to me...especially when there's $34,000 sitting under the table and you have to take a piss. Just do it on the cloth and sop it up with a few rags. The game continues on and no money lost.

Thanks for the speed info on the 2 clothes Sarah. Very helpful. I haven't played much on Centennial and mostly play at my local pool halls simonis, so its good to hear how they compare.

i have very little playtime on centeninal cloth but i have installed it 4 or 5 times.seems to be just as fast as simonis, working with it tho, it feels like a stronger cloth, almost denim like. i do know that it is more expensive than 860 simonis which can be bought online for 180-190$.

Our local pool room has used 860, Championship and the Brunswick cloth and the Brunswick seemed lightyears faster than either of the other two....but it had been a while since I'd played on 860 so my frame of reference may be off a bit. From what I've heard, the Brunswick has better durability at a slightly higher cost but from a playability standpoint, I found the 860 and Brunswick very similar...the Championship cloth I didn't like nearly as much.

Just my $.02
