Simonis Chartreuse

Ok, some more info here.

I pulled out my little storage container under my Gold Crown IV knowing I had some strips of old cloth in it. I found some more standard Simonis Green samples in there. Comparing what I found to the other sample that I have you can certainly tell a difference. What I just found is a little lighter and greener than the other sample I had. Not much, but just a little.

I just talked to my mechanic and he said he doesn't actually stock it anymore, he just gets what he wants after the customer tells him.

So I told him to just plan on the standard Simonis Green and we'd go from there. If its too dark and I don't like it i'll have it changed out later in the year.

Just wish Simonis made a light green or light blue Simonis. I think that would be a big seller.

If you contact Simonis, they'll happily send you samples of all their colors. Also Simonis spots and decals if you ask...

i haven't seen the mfg's specific color, but i can tell you that technically, chartreuse is supposed to be a very bright strong lemon yellow, with slight green tint. it was one of the new hot colors out of Europe 5 yrs ago.

more importantly - what color is the frame on your table? cause if it's brown, it's going to look like puke. black or gray would make it pop! can't the mfg send you an actual swatch (or 3"x3" fabric cutting)? go to WalMart & buy a twin sized flat sheet ($10) in a similar color. or Party City & find wrapping paper. lay it down on your table under the lights. and live with it for a few days - then you'll have your answer.

good luck with chalk. is ChicagoRJ's Russian chalk the kind that doesn't leave residue & is basically clear? somebody needs to produce clear chalk.

wait - this is 3 yrs old? hell, the color is probably discontinued by now!

Actually, chartreuse is supposed to be green with a slight yellow tint. The color is named after the French liqueur. The color you describe is closer to the yellow chartreuse, which isn't as good as the original, nor sells as much.

Already have all that. Along with Brunswick decals and logos for my Gold Crown IV.

The only potential issue I see with the Chartreuse, blue or green chalk might not blend in well. I had a friend with Olive cloth and it looked horrible with chalk marks showing up all over it.

There are about, oh, a lot, of blue and green combinations of Simonis, none of them look light green of light blue to you? Simonis Green™, Blue Green, Petroleum Blue, English Green, Dark Green, Spruce, Powder Blue, Tournament Blue™, Electric Blue, Royal Blue, Marine Blue,

Simonis Green, Blue Green, Turnament Blue and Electric Blue are all light colors.

Folks are only trying to help you. No need to be disrespectful. Watch a match on TV with Tournament Blue under fluorescent. If that isn't literally close to blindingly bright, then you have some eye issues.

We are not addressing color blindness here. The issue of brightness is a function of how much light is being reflected from an object. Either your table light is not covering the entire table equally, is inadequate, or your eyeball lens is brown, and is limiting how much light is actually reaching your eyes and brain. There are simply no other logical explainations. In a totally dark room, our eyes see nothing because no light is present. We cannot view the sun directly, as then our eyes are conversely overloaded with brightness.

Take a trip to the mall tomorrow, and pay c. $40 for a quick eye exam. Certainly your game deserves this, if not your quality of vision and your quality of life. Not a single post agrees with your assessment. Something bigger than simply choosing a color is afoot. If you choose not to believe me, ask for the opinions of those you feel you can trust. See if they agree with your opinions regarding brightness and your perceptions of brightness.
