Simonis trouble

I have had trouble with Simonis 860 cloth the last 2 times I recovered the table with it. The time before this I used the Championship blue cloth and the table did not have the nice action I had been used to in my previous use of this cloth, (3 coverings where it played great). I recovered the table again with the standard green and right from the start it was much worse than the blue cloth. The cloth is stretched as tight as possible and does not move when pushed on. The cloth is no where near as slick and a lot slower.
Has anyone else had this problem?? I called Simonis and they were no help at all.

Stretching it according to manufacturers spec would make a difference

Thanks for the site. The cloth is stretched quite well. I never had this trouble in the past and just wondered if anyone else had.

Is there any way that you could have been sold a counterfeit cloth? Just wondering as my 860 (standard green) was installed just under a year ago and it has incredible action. Sometimes I have to do a double take when I notice the transfer of energy, spin and english from the cue ball to the object ball... even on extremely slow and short shots. Friends have seen it also and commented about it.
If I suspected my cloth I would first do the blacklight test on it to make sure that it is what I paid for. Beyond that (assuming that it wasn't installed wrong side up) I would contact Simonis about it. But you said that you have done so and I'm a bit surprised that they are of no help. My history with them has been good... but capitalism sometimes pollutes the best of companies over time. I hope that isn't true with Simonis.
It is frustrating when your house table isn't playing as it should. I do remember that in the beginning (on my current install) I didn't like the roll of my cloth. It didn't seem quite true. I started using a low suction vacuum with a stationary brush attachment after about every 10 hours of play followed by a thorough brushing (always from head to foot). After about 3 months the cloth began to play very smooth and responsive. Simonis has less nap than most cloths but it apparently does need to be conditioned. The conditioning was the key for my cloth playing well and it did take a few month to get it there. The brushing (in the direction of the break) was the key. And of course you never want to allow any direct draw or pull from the vacuum and never use a rotary brush on the cloth.
You may have gone through all of this already but I'm throwing it all out there just in case.

There's a point where cloth starts out fast, slows down when the newness wears off, then gradually speeds up again as it gets worn and thinner.

Maybe your old cloth was on long enough to get pretty worn and play fast, and the new stuff isn't there yet?

Did you change the rails? Huge difference there too.

You wrote that you called Simonis and they were no help. Are you located in the U.S.? If so, did you ask for the U.S. President, Ivan Lee? You should ask to speak directly with him. If there is a problem with a batch of cloth, he would know and if he doesn't, then maybe there is something he should be made aware of so he can trace and check that particular batch.
