Simple Breakdown of a fu#$ed up road trip.

Sweet

Hitting random places looking for action is like a box of chocolates! You never know what you're gonna get. It might be awesome and it might have a nasty filling. LOL

It's nice to have people that will listen when you want to vent a little! :canoodle:

I had a buddy walk into a poolhall outta town and say, "I'll give anyone in here the 7 ball for $100!!". This was on a Saturday night about 10PM, so the place was packed! It didn't take long for someone to come up to him (with 4 or 5 others standing right behind the guy). He said, "you willing to go a bit higher than $100?" My buddy said, "ABSOLUTELY, but don'tcha wanna see it first? I mean, it's not in perfect condition, but it was recently polsihed..." (as he pulled a 7 ball out of his coat pocket). Everyone got a chuckle, and drinks and matching up soon followed (not giving "everyone" the 7, of course)...

You really need that extra gear to go on the road and make money. You need to be able to give up weight. When the guy quits you have to have an offer for him to bleed a little more out of him. I used to do a funny thing sometimes. I would ask players in the place for weight right up front. It was rare you didn't get the response, "Why should I give you weight, if you want to play some play even". Of course that is all I want to do in the first place. The object is to get the guy to the table. You can beat even the biggest "Nit" in the place out of something once you have him on the table.
Trust me, this isn't my first rodeo. I was just venting. Most of the players around here, I give up weight. There's only a couple that I wouldn't be happy playing even. On a given day, in gear, they don't scare me either. You know who you are. I am very familiar with HOW to get someone to play. There just has to be someone even open to the idea.

crawfish, you should type up this story & mail it in as your mortgage payment & tell them next month looks promising, you just never know, the loan officer might be a player & offer you a pay-off of the loan for the last 2

Funny you say that. I used to have a salesman that worked in my store that used this.

"Hello. Yeah, this is Terry. Hey, I've told you guys to never call me here at work. Listen, I have enough money each month to pay either 6 or 7 bills. Most of the time I get 8-10 bills. So, I throw them in a hat and pull out however many I can afford. You keep fu#4ing calling me here at work, and you won't make it even into the hat. Goodbye."

Shoulda hit Randolph's in Hickory.....I guarantee you would've found action there.....especially on Sunday

You Should Have Cruised Up To Raleigh.
Dude, I live in Raleigh. Same old people trying to make the same ol' games. No thanks. I just wanted something new and exciting. Like was said earlier, "Road trips are like a box of chocolates." Just so happened, I opened the box and the candy had either gone away or I was allergic to it. As far as Hickory, might as well match up with the same people here.

Really weird that you had such bad luck considering what stellar shape the economy is in and with the unemployment rate so low nowadays!!!

I guess I came across a little bitter. It's just that all of those places I stopped at used to have all kinds of $5-$100 a game action. Occasionally you'd run into someone that could put a rack or two together, but not often. Those days are gone.

Not really ... I enjoyed it Grady, errrr, ahhh, I mean Crawfish.
