Hi,

I might get the chance to move to Singapore for a wile with work. Does anyone know what the pool scene is like there (league and pro) and which club wu plays at now?

I know there are many clubs there and its a popular there but I've only ever played in a few clubs down orchard road.

I saw a fantastic looking pool club in singapore once online but I can't remember the URL! :(

Any information much appreciated, thanks
 
you can visit klassic pool hall at jalan berseh in singapore. those in orchard road are expensive and tables sucks. :grin-square:

most of the singapore pool players train at klassic..
 
wu is not in singapore. but the best pool hall in singapore? definitely Klassic. it is at jalan berseh. new world centre second floor. u can google it if u wan. this is the place where most national players train.
 
ill highly recommend 2 places:
klassic-jalan bersah
GF-Depot road

other notable mentions:
pool junction, pool fusion2&3-->middle road at bugis (good tables and ambience, but abit more expensive)
century, mambo2-->bt timah (decent tables, cheaper)

orchard road-->the pool halls leave much to be desired.

Just checked and my office is on middle road(33), it seems two of the pool halls you mention are also on middle road!!! (about 4 blocks away) :smile:

The klassic place sounds good too, also not that far on google maps.

Is the Labyrinth any good?

Totally off topic, any locals know what an average 1 bed apartment goes for in sg, pref above said pool halls :)

I never thought Wu should have left Taiwan to begin with, probably the best pool scene in the world outside the Phillipines

I'd like to know the stipend and perks Singapore was allotting (????????)

because if he just practiced all the time he could probably pull in Mika type money
 
great thread, I could only be sorry I'm back from Singapore last November ;) Anyway I didn't have much time for pool there, so many things to see and to do in only 5 days... Next time I will check the halls recommended, for sure.

Hi guys, i went to Klassic pool few days ago hoping to shoot some balls, but wat i can find is only a ktv hall instead. haa. Has it shifted or closed down?

Klassic is located at New World Centre 1 Jalan Berseh on the 2nd floor. I played there over the weekend. At the complex, you walk down Jalan Berseh from Jalan Besar until you see the entrance and take an elevator up to 2nd floor and it's right there.

Wu is now Chinese. He is coaching Chinese players now and playing for China as far as I know. Although he still has to do his compulsory military service in Taiwan or face getting arrested if he goes to Taiwan. Feel free to correct me if I got it wrong.

The latest I heard in Shanghai is that Wu is in Shenzhen. He is coaching Chen Si Ming and others.

There was a plan for him to go back to serve his military obligation in Taiwan, but the last I heard that was on hold because they were trying to figure out the technicalities of a guy who is now a mainland Chinese citizen serving in the Taiwan military. Not sure what has or will happen with that.

I think he crapped in his mess kit trying to make the move to Singapore without having all of his ducks in a row first.

A good guy to connect up with here is "Master Class", Chris from Singapore. He's a nice guy and we've done some cue deals, etc. He's been posting here a long time. He was a very close friend of Raist, Titlistsucker, the young man who passed away. They were on a championship league team together.

Good luck - I love Singapore.
