Single layer tip in between an Elkmaster and Triangle or Lepro?

boogieman

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that ping.
I hate to be this guy (sorry) 🥺 but my friend is requesting a single layer tip in between an Elkmaster and a Triangle or Lepro.

Any good candidates?

He wants something soft-medium to medium.

There are multiple listed on the following chart:

Not sure why G2 (layered) tips are not listed on this chart. They are here:

Sounds like the Royal Oak would be a good softer side of medium between the Elkmaster and Triangle, good luck finding an installer that has one to try as I've never seen one of these type of tips in 35+ years of pool:

I've heard Elkmasters and Le Pros can be very inconsistent.

I don't go near elkmasters, they, just take too long. To play in. Very soft tip.
There ok when there pressed.
Pressed triangles are your best bet. or if your lucky you might get a nice one, straight out of the box.
Le pros, are more on the harder side. in my experience, a bit more consistent.
Some do have a medium feel, but they soon get the hardness, they are known for.
Its still a hit or miss, it just depends what your looking for.

I keep thinking you wanna have three tips on the stick, with some random tip between an elk master and a triangle (or a LePro). Go go keep going.

I've got a few Chandivert Rockies and some pressed duds.
Pm me an address and I'll shoot you a few.

Elkmaster slathered with SG gel. Same thing that glues tips on. Shapes easily - even with scuffers. If it frizzes, slather more glue. Burnish with a spoon between coats. Soaks and dries real quick.
I ordered 10 Elkmasters from Amazon for the rack cues at home and out of necessity I put one on my Chinese playing cue. I haven't seen the local cue guy in a while and still waiting for a shaft to be made. My playing cue needs a new ferrule/tip and a new butt cap. I'm surprised how well the Elkmaster is playing and holding up and getting better the more I use it.

I have an old box of 12mms from Atlas and those pop right on as is. The new 20 for 50 boxes at Amazon aren't that bad. They aren't all circular but with the gel glue stiffening they can be shaped and dressed like hard leather. Works on anything too soft to do manually.

Water buffalo Pro $1.25 tip from Cue Components.
See below a user's positive comments from that company's web site about using buffalo hide on a break shaft shaped to a silver dollar circumference and then using it on a 13mm players shaft dime shaped.

Save yourself the trouble and get a hold of Pooldawg8 for some Duds!!
He will take good care of ya!!

Triangle milk duds. I'm guessing if you skip the compression step they will come out a little softer than triangle but harder than Elk master. but play softer than Elks

While I personally use Ultraskins, I also bought a box of 50 Triangles on a recommendation from someone on here, even though the few I tried before were horrible.
I wanted to have some of these for cheap replacement tips for bar cues and such. I'm really glad I did as this batch of 50 is really good tips. Not sure if I just got lucky, or is the fact that I ordered 15mm tips as was recommended by a member here, but what ever, so far every tip installed, about a dozen, has been good. I now like these tips, almost to the point of using them personally, but I really like my Ultraskin black mediums.

This.
Been using Dawgduds for years and I find them to be just right.
I pulled an old custom cue out of storage a couple weeks ago and the tip felt way too hard.
I put on one of the tips I played with back when that cue was my main player and did not like it at all.
Decided to put one of Jeff's tips on it before I wrote off that cue and now I love it again.

A few years ago I designed a tip press to make my own duds but never machined it after trying one of Jeff's tips.
