Single Layered Tip vs Multi Layered

I've never tried a "milk dud" but I do prefer single layer tips. Triangle is all I play with now. If I were to play with a softer tip I'd get an elk master. I think they play nice aswell if their installed properly that is

So I said what the hell and just ordered a sample pack from outsville. I will probably install a medium on one of my shafts to start (that is what I normally play with now) and see what happens!

If you pay $40 for a tip and use $35 for chalk, you have to shoot better than with a 50 cent tip and 10 cent piece of chalk...right? JT

No, you just need to have disposable income to where $75 is irrelevant. It would be nice if you could simply purchase a game. Unfortunately, I'm quite certain any professional could beat me with a broomstick while I'm playing with my nice custom Durbin with an Outsville tip chalked with a piece of Kamui. It is what it is.

I think tips are mostly a feel thing. I prefer the feel of a softer tip. I've been playing for four or five weeks with an Outsville soft. No mushrooming at all, no glazing. Time will tell but I bet this tip will last 400 to 500 hours or more of play. That's on an 11.75 mm shaft so even more impressive. Feels very similar to a Kamui SS or Ultraskin Soft with no mushrooming, and I believe, will be longer life.

How does a DIY soaked and pressed Triangle compare to a Ki Tech?

A DIY anything is not going to have much consistancy, where as a Ki Tech is one of the most consistant tips on the market if I understand correctly.

This doesn't mean that a Ki Tech will suit you better, what it does mean is that if you like a Ki Tech, you wont have any issues when you replace it. But with a DIY triangle, you might have to cut a few off until you find one what is exactly what you are after.

Would you say that the best selected DIY Triangles compare very well or better to the Ki Tech, or any other tip? Finding the "magic" tip vs. the most consistent production tip. It's like the monster cue that hits a ton!

Maybe you had to pick it instead of p r I c k it?

Single layered tips are good, multi layered tips are overpriced. You get more spin from knowing how to stroke the ball. You miscue because you stroked it wrong.

It is not really about how much spin or draw. It is that feeling that takes place during that instant that the tip contacts the cue ball and there is a connection that is hard to explain.

Like most everything in pool it is about that feeling you have, you just know where the cue ball is going and there is no doubt in your mind you are going to make the ball. That is what you are looking for that feeling and even that sound. You know it when it is right.

I have changed even the same brand tips looking for what I wanted. I remember seeing Miz borrowing Bludworths equipment put three tips on the same shaft till he had what he liked.
