Efren started the year with a bang at the DCC, but from there suffered a 10-month slump I haven't seen during the last 10 years. Not a few thought they were finally witnessing the first leaves of autumn of his amazing career. One of the lowest moments in his life was walking out of the playing hall, alone, into the warm, dark night of Taiwan last July after getting eliminated in the round robin, not even reaching the first knock-out stage.
Well, he has (pleasantly) embarrassed us again. If he wins it all, he will end the year the way he started it, and all's right with the world.
