Skid

I am playing on tables with Simonis cloth that is stretched very tight and have seen more balls skid than I noticed before. Is tight cloth another contributing factor?

Yes it is because the object ball breaks traction to the cloth easier. All cue ball cling to throw it easier. Happens often with a little running English and small cut angles.

I think that if you look at the size of the forces involved between the balls during the collision and then look at the possible size of forces from the cloth during that same time, you will come to the conclusion that the force from the cloth is negligible and cannot affect throw or skid.
