Hey There,
Any one out there going? I went last year to saturdays matches and it was
a blast. This time i'am going to make both days. I'll have a Drexeline Billiards
Club hat on, say hi if you feel so inclined.

I am leaving this morning for Atlantic City to attend the Skins Billiard Championship. The players meeting is tonight, and then the Skins will begin tomorrow and end on Saturday.

I really enjoyed the Skins last November. I did not understand the format until I got there. There is an opportunity for each of the 16 players to win a very hefty reward for their performance on the Olhausen field of green. My horse played well on the Olhausen table last year, but in this type of setting, a player must bring their "A" game to the table.

Players will draw cards tonight to see who will be in their group of four. The 16 players will be divided into four groups. Only eight players who win the MOST games on Friday will advance to the semi-finals on Saturday, which will ultimately be reduced to four men left standing for the finals. Saturday's match will be recorded by ESPN.

This year, the Skins will be at the Resorts, and admission is free to all. Last year, every seat in the house was filled. I can't wait to get there! :)

Last year, Keith McCready made it to the second day for the semi-finals. Adjacent to the main playing area, there is a room set up for the players to practice with one or two tables. The mood was intense, and each player was in their own individual zone, trying to fine-tune their game before they appeared in the arena.

Saturday night, we were enjoying the table games in the casino, but then headed up for the finals to see who would be the big winner. Keith was fortunate to be introduced to a "host" and enjoyed the hospitality of the casino to its fullest the entire weekend. :D

Before the finals began, in walks an entourage of Italians, dressed to the nines. One of the men surged forward and singled Keith out. He spoke to Keith and said, "Hey, aren't you the guy who played in one of my favorite movies, 'The Color of Money'?" Keith turned to see who spoke to him, and then his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. It was none other than Vincent Pastore a/k/a "Pussy" on the Sopranos.

I think the casino host told Vincent about Keith right before he walked into the Skins event, but Keith didn't know that and was totally flattered that "Pussy" acknowledged him. He ate it all up like a kid in a candy store. The two of them chatted it up for a bit, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. :)

I just heard that there's a Texas Holdem Pool match, invitational, 8 players, winner take all set for December. $5,000 entry, $60,000 added. Not sure how it works or if it's been discussed here in the forums yet, but thought I'd throw it out there. Anyone else hear about this? Peace, John.

Someone else started a thread about it a couple of weeks ago but only a couple of posts were made. All I know is that there will be something to that effect. It's an Allen Hopkins Production... The winner of Valley Forge (Shawn Putnam) received entry into it...I'm not sure how they're going to determine the rest of the players for the event.
