Bought this beauty from a guy in Taiwan.
He kept this cue in his humidor, this did the cue no good, cracked ivory joint, crack in the finish etc.

Send it over to Skip, who did a extreme make over including Joint protectors.
And look here, it is brand new...

Thanks Lisa

WoW! Thanks for posting up the photos, Maurice...I had almost forgotten just how great this cue looked!! I am glad I did not see the 'before' on this cue, as it would have likely broken my heart. I had put a great deal of thought into every aspect of the cue's design, and Skip executed it flawlessly.

I am soooooo happy that she has found a great new home with someone who appreciates her as much as I did. Thank you again for the photos...seeing her again has made my heart glad. :yeah:

i believe that is ridethewind's (lisa) old cue here on az. she put a lot of thought and effort into the design of that cue. search for her old posts about the cue.

No worries, Guy! Actually, Maurice contacted me some time ago asking me about where the cue had gone, and I pointed him in the right direction.

Unfortuntely, while the Taiwanese owner thought he was doing the right thing by storing it in the manner that he did, it caused some damage with the ivory joint, finish, and the original lizard wrap.

While the cue itself has become a bit of a world traveller, Maurice's journey in restoring her back to her original glory has been a long and arduous one. I cannot thank him enough for having as much love for this cue as I have...and for providing her a lovely new home.

i thought alexb claimed to own this cue...

Dave, there must be some confusion...AlexB has never owned this cue. Maurice will be the third owner. I commissioned the cue from Skip, I had the cue about 7 months I think when I had a unforeseen financial obligation rear it's ugly head, which forced me to part with her in late October/early November of '06. The cue sold within 24 hours of listing it here to a gentleman in Taiwan, who also had some other of Skip's cues. Maurice contacted me concerning the whereabouts of this cue sometime late in '07 or very early '08. I contacted the owner at the time if he would entertain an offer on this cue, and when he replied he would, I gave Maurice the necessary info to make contact. Maurice was made aware of the 'issues' with the cue at that time, and it went to Skip straight-away to have the 'issues' corrected. After a long wait, Maurice has just received the cue back from Skip.

If that isn't a blow-by-blow Provenance on this cue, I do not know what is...LoL.

Now, perhaps AlexB purchased the other cue with hearts in it that JoeVan had had for sale here...I am not aware. Or, he may have purchased my first Skip cue from the gentleman I had sold it to, in order to be able to commission the 'Captive Hearts' cue. Truth be told, I accidently deleted the PM I received from the gentleman who did purchase this cue, and I really wished I still had it. I know that someday, I would not mind having it back...I have lots of league trophies and memories thanks to this cue. :D

You put a great deal of thought into four points with 8 heart inlays???

Maurice-
Nice cue you got there. Glad the restoration came out so well. Take care of it and good luck.

I picked the wood combos for this cue, which is BdR, pink ivory, and curly maple. I knew I wanted the ivory hearts inside pink ivory ovals, but NOT a solid oval 'windows'. I specifically asked for only 3 veneers instead of 4, as I knew that I wanted the pink ivory veneer to be double thick, because along with the single thickness maple and BdR veneers, I felt it would 'pop' the curly maple forearm...which it does. I also knew that I wanted the BdR, pink ivory and maple stitch rings. I was very specific with regards to the ring collars at the joint and shafts be BdR, and not phenolic. I also requested the shorter butt cap and the piloted ivory joint and ferrules.

I knew exactly how I wanted this cue to look like in my mind's eye before ever receiving it...and when I did receive it, it was EXACTLY as I had envisioned. Huge kudos to Skip for his execution!! So, yes, I did put a lot of thought into every aspect of this cue...that is what cue design is all about.

But it's a keeper, or somebody comes up with a nice Fanelli or an offer i can't refuse, i might consider...

His humidor eh. Douchebag!

Glad to see the hearts cue restored, and if you have before pics I'd really like to see them (lisa look away).
