Skiving Leather

There was a post a few months ago about a company in
Georgia that would skive leather. I thought I saved the contact info but I can't find it and doing a search did not
produce any results.

Does anyone remember the name? If so, please PM me the
info.

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure I book marked the site Arnot. I'll see if the one I have is what you're looking for.

I'm thinking this is the one, hope so:

That is the one. I have some leather that is thicker by about .006 on one side. I was hoping that they could level it out. Come to find out they can only remove the same amount so it would come out thinner all over and not just where it needs to be thinned.

Thanks for the information. Rep to you.

I don't split leather for anyone else. My leather splitting machine is giving me some headaches and I don't want to multiply them.

On another note: Skiving is not to be confused with splitting or shaving. Skiving is acutally cutting the leather at an angle instead of shaving or splitting it to a certain thickness.

if you are unable to source a company that does that, might try contacting some local leatherworkers. www.leatherworker.org is a good website for that.

they have got a very nice new model splitting machine at the studio where I work from, it splits by .1 mm increments and as far as I know, would be able to even out uneven leather. good luck
