I came across this gizmo for moving slate. Will have to check it out at the BCA next week. Anyone seen this or have one? Comments?

That looks kind of neat, but it seems like putting all that stress on one rail bolt hole could easily lead to a disaster.

we always used a kids snow sled with a rope tied to the front for pulling it, the plastic kind the kids sit in or lie down in from wallymart , looks like a tub sortof with the lip around it , the long one. Tie a rope to the front so one guy pulls and another guy holds the slate steady from tipping side to side , slate is set in it on its side upright , same position shown with this thingy that you show here but set in the sled. Then accross lawns , driveways , up stairs , down stairs it goes!! easy!!

This looks like a cool product. I've seen a larger picture in Pool and billiards magazine. The slate a has a piece broke off at the rail bolt hole near the corner pocket. I wonder if this product is a little rough on the slates. I'm not willing to pay $600 to try it out, but if someone else does I would like to know how it works.

A friend of mine engineered his own slate hauler that has a similar look. It has bigger tires and bicycle brakes from an old ten speed for going down steps. He has been moving tables on his own for decades. I just don't see it being practical for the majority of situations... I'll keep humpin'

Is your buddies called the slate dolly. I've seen a bunch of dollies that look good and I have some, but they take up so much room. What I like about this one is it seems to be compact.

The one I saw at the bca show had bicycle tires on it. The guy said he wasn't the same guy as the one with the small wheels - didn't see that one at all. For one person In a pinch we use a heavy duty 2 wheeler with straps.

I saw both of the dollies at the BCA show. I think they both are good . The one with the wheel chair tires is just to big to use with a regular van. Takes up to much room. The Slate Geanie was nice and compact. They had a set of stairs at the booth so you could see how it went up stairs. The price tag and time to set up are the factors that keep me from buying. For now I will continue to hump it!

20 yrs from now maybe we can beam the slate to where it needs to go. In the meantime I think 2 warm bodies work just fine.

Dont take this personally but i think your advice is a little biased as your the guy in the photo selling this thing. saw it at the show. way overpriced
and just not practical.
