Slate Shims

In about a month I'll be setting up my table and wondering what you guys use for slate shims.

I'm always thinking that the easy to find pine shims are too soft and will compress under the weight. Maybe the compression is quick and won't change after a few minutes?

I have heavy T-Rail slate slates on a 3C table.

All shims compress something as you tighten them so the trick is to tighten the screws, compress the shims and level the slate all at the same time.

If you are concerned about it sagging anywhere just install additional shims. If you wanted to you could shim it all the way around, probally overkill though.
